PROGRAM LIST.
Office Volunteer
Half-day shifts from 9 am-1 pm and 1 pm-5 pm. File, answer phones, complete phone intakes for prospective clients, and work on side projects as time permits.
Maintenace & Groundskeeper
NLB is always in need of handy helpers with electrical, plumbing, or carpentry skills to be on-call when something goes awry. We also have need for someone with a green thumb to help plant, weed and beautify our homey landscape.
Tutor
Remedial and basic reading, writing, and math skills to be worked on in one-on-one setting with clients. Tutors provide ongoing help to the resident finishing their high school diploma or studying for the GED.
Birth Coach
Help prepare resident mentally and physically for labor. Accompany the resident to the hospital for childbirth, help advocate for the resident’s chosen birth plans while in the hospital.
Share a Meal
Experience a family-style dinner with our residents. Volunteers provide the meal and some much-needed social time after clean-up. Bring along games, cards, etc. for some added fun.
Grant Writer
Find new opportunities and write for monetary grants. As a private non-profit, much of our operating costs are derived from grants. We're currently seeking someone with knowledge of or interest in the grant writing process to help bring in funds for NLB.
Mentor
Meet one-on-one with resident twice monthly. Act as role model and stable force in client’s life. Activities could include a picnic lunch, special event outing, or a simple conversation.
Health & Education Instructor
Offered on-site to our residents as part of our overall goal to enhance client self-sufficiency and capability, our H&E Program covers topics related to maternal health, job preparation, resume writing, Infant and Child CPR, First Aid, breastfeeding, art projects, computer skills, and more. Special need for a Labor & Delivery Nurse.
Baby Sitting
Come babysit our children in the evenings while their mothers are in class from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm.
